It has been said before, "What a difference a year makes." And that rings VERY true in wrestling, especially this year. Granted injuries, illness, suspensions can alter plans instantly and that has happened in the last year, but a year ago this time, would anyone have guessed that Becky Lynch OR Kofi Kingston would be wrestling for the top titles in the company at WM 35?! OR that Kofi would be taking on D. Bryan for the title? Becky, I think was in the women's battle royal and Kofi and the New Day were wrestling for the SD tag titles at WM 34. Crazy!
But, unfortunately, some have dropped down to the bottom of the card compared to where they were last year. Yes, I'm talking about Askuae and Shinskue. Oddly enough, both of them won the Royal Rumble in 2018. Also oddly enough, both had titles this year, but I don't think they did much with them. And now with WM 35 coming up, Askuae is going to be in the women's rumble and Shinskue is teaming with Rusev?
It's true what they say, what a difference a year makes.

2018: It's over, thank God Part-2
Okay let's focus on the positive of wrestling this year.
First let's start with All In. A major success, with a few hick ups, but nothing that took away from the experience. I would like to say that it put indie wrestling back on the map. I think that it did, but it's lost a little steam in the later part of the year. But I have no doubt that'll it will pick back up in early 2019.
Bound for Glory. I didn't see, but it seems that Impact put on another entertaining PPV, with a little controversy to go with that.
WWE: Evolution. I was very worried about how this show was going to go. The card didn't look good a month before the event and it was marketed at first to showcase 50 superstars. But I think we got 32...? But as the show went on it got really good and was a really strong PPV. Like every PPV it could have been dull, boring, or a botchfest. Yes it had it's bad moments but overall it was really good and I wonder if they are going to do it again.
The return of Daniel Bryan: I wasn't sure if this was good or bad. Cause other than defeating Big Cass. Did DB do anything great apart from coming back from injury? Yes he's champion now, and is heel..? WTF? Didn't see that coming at all. Like Askua, a roller coaster. Started really high, went low, and high again (enter drug joke here).

NXT: As a whole, NXT has been great. Velveteen Dream, Johnny, Alester Black, Undisputed Era, Ricochett, and of course Tomaso Champa, possibly the most hated man in wrestling. NXT PPV are a real treat and I look forward to more NXT PPV in 2019
Charlotte/Becky Lynch: The epic fail that was Sasha/Bayley but reversed and WAY better. Becky has become a mega star, damn near Stone Cold level. She needs a better shirt, but that's beside the point. Both women have elevated their game to the next level and I didn't think Charlotte had a next level, like Super Saiyan III and Becky is in the F'N stratusphere, like Super Saiyan God. DragonBall referernces aside. 2018 has been great for "The Queen" and "The Man" I don't know what more these women CAN do, but there is going to be women's tag teams in 2019, so we will see.

Has this been the worse year in WWE wrestling in awhile...? For the most part I'm gonna go with yes, but then again there is NXT, which has been great. But man, what a year 2018 has been.
I guess I should be more fair than that. The things that were good i.e. NXT were really good. And the things that were bad, were really really bad.
Of course, injuries always come up no matter the year. This year had plenty of injuries and sickness which scrapped all kinds of plans that would have happened.
Then there was bad segments on RAW, bad feuds, or feuds that went on too long. I know that writing and trying to come up with entertaining content can be a hard job, but let's go over a few complete wastes of talent, briefly.
Bobby Lashely vs. Sammy Z: No, just no. It didn't work from the start and why they mentioned Bobby's sisters at all, is anyones guess.
Sasha Banks vs. Bayley: Wow, these poor women have done nothing in 2018. Even though this could have been feud of the year. But they did nothing of great importance. No one-on-one match at WM or SummerSlam, or a random RAW. Nothing. I can't say I remember a time that a story line that was building to feud was completely scrapped for no real good reason.
Moving on to feuds that went on too long. New Day vs. USOs: Great talent but I don't need to seem them wrestle each other. There are other tag teams on SD.
Shinskue vs. AJ Styles: Started off well, but went on too long especially since Shinskue didn't win the belt.
Askua: The highest of highs, the lowest of lows, back to the highest of highs. Talk about a roller coaster. In 2018 Askua was undefeated until WM. Then didn't do much of anything for months. Until she became champion for the first time at the tail end of 2018.
There are other lows I'm sure but let's end the bad parts of 2018 with 3 more subjects. First, using death of a loved one in a storyline. That is just lazy. Second, using terminal illness in a storyline. That is lazy and REALLY uncessary. Both cases can be addressed in the ring. Bret Hart did it when Owen died. Hacksaw Jim Duggan addressed his battle with cancer in WCW. Roman addressed his battle with cancer a few months ago. That should have been it, but they had to mention it when Dean and Seth were bantering. And you could tell Dean didn't want to say that shit. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his change of body language.
Finally, Crown Jewel. Should WWE have done the show? Did they have a choice? I'm not really sure, because from what I can tell WWE was already paid before the show took place. So, they were in a bad PR situation regardless. I knew that they were going to do the show, but they are supposed to do more shows in Saudi Arabia. We will see how that goes.

Is the WWE Universal title...cursed?
Hard to believe that the Universal title is a little more than two years old. It debuted and a new champion was crowned on August 21, 2016 at Summer Slam. Unfortunately, the very first champion had to relinquish the title due to injury. Plus, he hasn't gotten a descent shot at that title he never lost.
Fast forward a bit to WM 33 on April 2, 2017. A new champion was crowned. And he didn't defend the title that often...to say the least.
Now, the title has been relinquished once again! Is this title cursed, or something...?
Think about this for a second. The current RAW and SmackDown women's titles have been around for about the same amount of time as the Unversial championship. And between the 2 women's titles; there has been 1 time that a belt had to be relinquised.
Maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges.

The Impact of All In!
Obviously if you're a wrestling fan and you have the internet. You knew that the biggest indie PPV, possibly ever, was coming. Now we are past that event, with people calling it a success. But what kind of impact will this have on pro-wrestling? From a fans prospective, I don't think it will change that much. But from a wrestlers and wrestling companies prospective. It could change alot. Because of the internet, wrestlers and other promotions can get noticed in a VERY big way. You don't necessarily need WWE to make a big impact.
It is possible that ALL IN will open the doors so that other promotions are willing to take a chance and selling 10,000+ seat areanas. I have said it before, and I'll say it again. Now is a great time to be a wrestling fan.

WM 34 Predictions
It's that time of year again; Wrestlemania (WM)
Now I can't say that I'm excited about this year's WM. Only because I feel that it's really predictable. However, that doesn't mean that it won't be entertaining as hell. Nor does that mean that my predictions will be correct. I mean I've been wrong before, so it can easily happen again.
Predictions are as follows:

2) Becky Lynch wins Women's Battle Royal

2017 review in professional wrestling
2017 is now in the past. Alot of ups and alot of downs in the world of professional wrestling.
Overall, this year has been a really good year for a pro wrestling fan. The world seems to be getting smaller with the internet. Before there were matches in the "indy" scene or in different countries you couldn't see. But that is no longer the case. With stars like Kenny Omega, The Young Bucs, Adam Cole, Kazuchika Okada and Cody Rhodes. The scene of professional wrestling has changed.
Think about this. The biggest match and possibly what will be the best match in 2018. Will take place in Japan. That has probably happened before, but with the internet and social media. EVERYONE knows about it and all who want to see it, will see it. Plus on top of that; WWE has little to nothing to do with it.
2017 solidified what we found out in 2016. You don't need WWE to make a HUGE impact.
Speaking of WWE. The biggest up for me was the return of the Hardy Boyz at WM. The biggest down was Alexia Bliss This is Your Life! I personally can't stand "This is Your Life" segments. None of them have been good. NONE!
Switching gears to NXT; Still a very strong brand with great talent. It was better last year, but that doesn't mean that NXT in 2017 was bad. With stars like Ember Moon, Alister Black, Velveteen Dream, Sanity, and Undisputed Era. 2017 was a strong year for NXT.
TNA, Impact Wrestling, Global Force Wrestling....? How many name changes can you go through in one year? Not only that, how many people came back to that company and turned around and left again? Besides the early part of 2017, when the Broken Hardys were there. I can't say there was something ground breaking or awe inspiring that happened in the six sided ring in 2017.
Sadly I have not watched much Lucha Underground or ROH this year. I hear great things that are happening in those companies and 2017 has been a good year for both.

SummerSlam 2017 predictions & NXT Takeover review
NXT Takeover has done it again...well for the most part. It was a solid PPV, I just wasn't all that excited about the main event. It was just okay. Spoiler Alert: Adam Cole made his debut in NXT.
If I followed ROH like I did in the past. I would know more about him...Sadly I do not...yet. But I am looking forward to what NXT does next. Great PPV and just an okay main event. I give it a B+.

How WWE can/should fix Bayley
Starting off, I want to say that I really like Bayley. Both as a character and wrestler. So this is not an "attack" on her or her ability to wrestle.
Now that I got that out of the way. Let's start with where the character was getting stale.
Did they give her the belt too soon? Personally, I don't think so...Did she do much with the belt when she had it? Not really, and that's were the problem started...in my opinion. She didn't present as a confident champion. She didn't hold the belt long enough to increase that confidence and make her the person to beat.
Then there was the feud with Alexa Bliss, who just tore into Bayley on the mic and backed it up in the ring. Again making Bayley look weak both on the mic and in the ring. And of course their match at Extreme Rules made both women look bad, but especially Bayley. She didn't get extreme because she's too nice? She wouldn't do whatever it took to win? She just looked so weak and incompetent.
Bayley has gone from a strong women's champion in NXT to a little insecure girl who can win, but does so because of luck and not skill.
Do you see the problem? Her character hasn't evolved. And now her momentum has been halted due to injury.
So, how to fix this? It's pretty simple, toughen up Bayley and make her more confident. She doesn't have to tell us she was a fan when she was a kid. That's not necessary; the people are behind her the connection already exists. She doesn't have to turn her heel, please don't!!
When she comes back from injury. Have her feud with Alexa again. Let Alexa cut a promo on Bayley. And Bayley doesn't have to say anything...She just has to punch Alexa in the face. Then in a backstage segment. Have Bayley say she is sick of being treated like a child, having her kindness mistaken for weakness by Alexa and then challenge Alexa to a No Holds Barred match. Make
the match long enough and make Bayley aggressive through that match, and have her WIN IT!
That's all WWE has to do. How hard is that?

WWE MITB review....i.e. Really?!?
I don't know where to begin with this one. This is usually one of my favorite PPVs of the year. But this year...? This year...? My God, what was that? The ending of the very first female WWE ladder match ended like that? Really? Why? WTF?
Let me calm down here and talk about the positives. First, there were some matches that were pretty good and entertaining. The tag team championship match was pretty good. So was the main event MITB match....and that's really all the positives I can think of.
The Jinder/Orton match was exactly the same match they had last PPV. The only difference was the incorporation of Cowboy Bob Orton. But other than that, it was the exact same finish....WTH.
The women's championship match was ok. I expected more from Lana. She did ok, but I was not overly impressed with her.
Also, is the Ascension ever gonna get a push? And, no titles changed hands...ugh. And did I mention the ending of the female MITB match...? I did? Well it bares repeating!!! That ending was just awful for so many reasons. The main reason(I think) is because it was really a good match up until the end. The women used the ladders effectively. Most of them had good spots to show off their athleticism. It was headed toward history making in a good way. But the ending tarnished ALL of that in less than a minute! It was sad, just sad. And it was lazy creatively, not by the wrestlers who put in the work. But the writers/bookers who thought this was a good idea. Unless their idea was to make people upset and angry. If so, mission accomplished.

That ending was just awful for so many reasons. The main reason(I think) is because it was really a good match up until the end. The women used the ladders effectively. Most of them had good spots to show off their athleticism. It was headed toward history making in a good way. But the ending tarnished ALL of that in less than a minute! It was sad, just sad. And it was lazy creatively, not by the wrestlers who put in the work. But the writers/bookers who thought this was a good idea. Unless their idea was to make people upset and angry. If so, mission accomplished.

WWE MITB 2017
It's still odd to me that this PPV is not a cross brand PPV. But maybe they'll do that next year.
I am worried about the women's MITB. Because I wonder if they'll let them utilize the ladders like the men do. I don't expect sick bumps, but a few would make it just as good if not better than the men's MITB. On to the predictions:

Wrestlemania 33 predictions and NXT reaction
I usually tweet my predictions, but this is WM. And also because WM is going to be around 6 hours long, including the pre show. This seemed easier.
First, NXT. While it was a really good PPV. And it did have new belts revealed before the title matches started. I gotta say overall. It was a little disappointing. Not the matches themselves, but the out comes. Not one title changed hands. NOT ONE! I expected at least one, but by the time the main event came around. You kind of figured that title wouldn't change hands either. I give the PPV a grade of B.
Now on to my predictions for WM 33.
