Wrestling Obscurity: Jimmy Yang Wang

Just for the record, I really like Jimmy Yang. He is/was a very good wrestler and was fun to watch.
He has had worked with WWE under different ring names, but one that stands out to me. Is Jimmy Yang Wang. He was an Japanese cowboy. That's pretty much it. He would line dance, speak "southern" and sing country music. Sounds a little stupid, but it was kind of entertaining and Jimmy made it work. Plus like I said he was/is a good wrestler. So the gimmick didn't really matter when the bell rung. But like alot of other gimmicks it gets old after awhile and being a cruiserweight in WWE meant you were not going to be around for very long.

Wrestling Obscurity: Bobby Lashely

I may be cheating a little bit with this one, but I feel that mister Bobby Lashely is slowly fadding in to obscurity.  I know he has tried to compete in MMA, but I'm not sure how well that has worked out for him.
For those who don't know Bobby Lashely was a big and powerful guy. Think Brock Lesnar, but darker.
He had a good run in WWE, he was ECW(WWECW) champion and US champion and....ummm. Ok he was never World Champion or WWE Champion. I'm not sure why.
He did spend time in TNA, but I think that was a stepping stone to get him into MMA.  The only big feud that I can think of is the one with him and Scott Steiner.
According to the internet, Bobby is with IGF promotion, so we'll see if he can leave his mark on the wrestling world, or fade into obscurity.

The right time to unify titles?

I'm not really sure why WWE decided to unify their two titles last night. And the timing is very odd. I know we are near the end of the year, and I think they wanted to start off 2014 with 1 champion. But did it have to be on a PPV like TLC? Why not the Rumble? That's one of the big 4 PPV. TLC is just a gimmick PPV and one that is hit or miss. And you could have more time to build up tension and rivalry and tell a good story. It seemed like an on the spot decisions that didn't require a lot of thought or too much planning.
Think about this for a sec. WWE set up a match 1 year in advance at WM. The Cena vs. Rock match. And that wasn't for the title, well the first match wasn't. They will do that, but they won't dedicate more than 2 months to a unification match? Seems like poor execution to me.

Kane in a suit....?

I know I haven't been posting too much lately. But I had to write down how I fell about the big red machine being in a suit. Well when Kane said that the monster is your's to unleash. I had a totally different vision in mind. I thought that meant that he would do the authorities dirty work. Take out who they wanted on that given night. And Kane would be cool with that. That's what I thought he was going to do to the Big Show. So imagine my surprise. Or better yet imagine may awe as I saw Kane walking down the ramp in a suit and tie. And I recently found out that Kane has the a new title. He is Director of Operations. Words escape me.
I'm so perplexed that I'm not sure that this is brilliant or really stupid. I'm leaning toward the latter on that one. But I just don't get it. What were they thinking?

Top 5 wrestlers on the mic

Why didn't I think of a list like this? Oh well, looks like someone did it for me. Not sure I totally agree with it, but it is a good list nonetheless.

Wrestling Obscurity: Randy Orton's relationship with the McMahons/Hemsleys

If you're reading this, I'm sure you saw RAW Monday night. I may have been one of the few who chuckled when Triple H said there was no love losed between him and Orton. Besides Randy being kicked out of Evolution and feuding with HHH. There was another feud between those two in which HHH invaded Randy's home, Randy Orton DDTed Stephanie, and Randy kicked Vince McMahon in the head. And in return HHH gave Orton, 2 concussions(I think) and a broken collar bone (unintentionally). Like HHH said there is a lot of water under that bridge. That is an understatement. But I guess ALL can be forgiven in the name of "business."

A real WWE Summerslam review

Time for a REAL review of last night's Summerslam PPV.  I think the PPV started off slow. The inferno match wasn't all that great. It was kinda slow actually. I give the Wyatt Family credit for coming up with an idea of how to get past the ring of fire. But other than that the match was dull.

RVD vs. Dean Ambrose, The Shield interferenced. There's a shocker and Ambrose is still champion. Again I'm shocked and in awe. An average match at best.

Del Rio vs. Christan was really good. I didn't care for the outcome, but that's cause I wanted Christian to win, but that's what happens I guess.

Rhodes vs. Damien, was surprisingly well done. I don't give Cody enough credit when it comes to wrestling, but he can really do a great job more often than not. I was surprised he won, but it won't be the last match between these two. They will probably put the MITB breifcase up for grabs; maybe a ladder match...?

Brie vs. Natalya, despite what the crowd said the match wasn't bad, but it had no real good story behind it. Brie slapped Natalya, Natyala slapped Brie and that is it. No title, no stipulation, no emotional investment in the match and that's why it was "boring."

CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar. One word; WOW. Match of the year? It's got my vote. But you know what was odd about this match. Even though the match was no DQ. They really didn't use a lot of weapons. I guess they didn't have to, but it wasn't until the last 1/3 of the match a chair was introduced. No kindo stick, no tables, hell they didn't even break the announce table English or Spainsh. Not a complaint, just struck me as a little strange.

Aj/Big E vs. Dolph Ziggler/Katyln. Another average match, at best. I'm not all that intrested in AJ's revenge against Dolph thing, so this match was just average. And it didn't help that this match followed Lesnar vs. Punk. I mean how do you top that?? Which brings us to the main event.

Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena. Great match; I was really expecting a lot from this match and I got it. Very good match, and maybe a contender for match of the year. I was surprised that DB won, I just was expecting that. I was happy that it happend, but then the night took a turn.

D Bryan vs. Randy Orton. WTF?!?! I'm really confused about Randy and Triple H's relationship. I know they were part of Evolution, but that was like 7-8 years ago. I mean....what? why? I can't find the words. But that does make me want to watch RAW tonight. It can't get here soon enough. It should be exciting.

Overall the PPV was great. There were a few matches that were average, but the alot of good to great matches. An excellent main event, and an ending that people will be talking about for a while.
Summerslam, I give it a grade of A.

WWE Summerslam review

I couldn't go to bed before I wrote something about the events of tonight's Summerslam PPV. I'll start off by saying that this was better than WM. And that does happen from time to time. Summerslam was just a better show. It had better matches, and it didn't feel like it had a lot of filler. Were as WM, seems to have ALOT of filler. I'm looking at you you P.Diddy. Anyway,  I'm not going to go into detail about all the PPV tonight. I'll post that later. Just wanted to say in short that this was a great PPV. Well worth the money and I don't say that alot.  The very end surprised the hell out of me and I'm still confused about those events. I have watched it 3 times now on my DVR and each time I get more and more confused.  But that's a quick review. I'll post my full review tomorrow...I hope.

WWE SummerSlam predictions

It's prediction time again. This years' SummerSlam is almost here. We'll see how it turns out. I'm a little skeptical because I don't think that any titles will change hands and you know how I feel about that. But I have  been wrong before. So we'll see what happens, but here are my predictions.

Ambrose def. RVD
Brie Bella def. Natayla
Damien def. Rhodes
Dolph Ziggler/Katlyn def. Big E/AJ
Bray Wyatt def. Kane
Christian def. Alberto del Rio
CM Punk def. Brock Lesnar
John Cena def. Daniel Bryant

Wrestling Week Review

This has been a very interesting week in wrestling. Darren Young (Fred Douglas) announced that he is a gay man. Which is cool. I guess I'll have to start cheering the Primetime players. Which I will unless they start blowing that stupid whistle, in which case I will start booing them again. Gay or straight, the whistle has got to go.  Kurt Angle enters a rehab clinic, which caught me by surprise. But hopefully he gets the help he needs. Speaking of TNA, Brooke Hogan was released from TNA....? Which I assume is true. I see it all over the internet. So it must be true....right? If it is that is very strange. But I guess TNA is still making budget cuts, but that is a hell of a cut. Seeing that she is the daughter of Hulk Hogan. I wouldn't think that she would be the one who got fired.
And to finish off the week we've got SummerSlam today, and ROH iPPV yesterday. We'll see how SummerSlam goes, but like I said at the beginning. It has been a very interesting week in wrestling.

I almost forgot, that Bully Ray regained the TNA title. Just when you think they are rapping up this whole Aces & 8s thing. They breathe new life into it. What's next? A knockout is going to join Aces and 8s. They'd never do that....right? Right?

A mole in WWE...?

According to MSN and other news source someone has been "leaking" WWE outcomes. Eric Bishoff?? Could it be?? No, not likely. But that does explain how a building full of people knew who John Cena was going to pick for his oppenent at SummerSlam before he actually did. Yes! Yes! Yes!

WWE Money in the Bank 2013 review

Well I was a little disappointed last night. This ususally is the best PPV of the year or one of them anyway. But this year, I don't think so. If you've read this blog before, you know I like it when a title changes hand on a PPV. Well that didn't happen this year. Very disappointing. Entertainment wise it was just ok. The ladder matches were good. I think the "Smackdown" ladder match was better than the "Raw" one, but only by a little bit.
Predicitions? Yea I didn't see Sandow winnning MITB. That was unexpected, but we'll see where he goes, but it looks like the rode scholars are done, so Cody is going to be face....? Stranger things have happened. Speaking of break ups, I'm assuming Dolph is going to dump AJ sooner than later. Why keep her around if she is going to cost him title matches?
Besides Mr. Sandow,  the PPV was predictable, no titles changed hands, and the entertainment value was just above average. Therefore I grade this PPV a C+.

Money in the Bank 2013 predictions

Hopefully I won't jinx anything by saying that MITB is my favorite PPV. Because I love ladder matches, and the whole concept of MITB is a great idea. So those two things combined, how could you go wrong? Well the card doesn't look all that impressive. Honestly, I'm looking forward to 3 matches, but that doesn't mean that the other matches won't deliever. Haven't had time to make predictions, but I'm making time for this PPV. So without further ado.
Predictions:
Chris Jericho def. Ryback
Curtis Axel def. The Miz
AJ Lee def. Katilyn
Alberto del Rio def Dolph Ziggler
MITB winner Randy Orton (all though I want Christian)
MITB winner Wade Barrett (all though I want Antonio)
Henry def. Cena

NTWA: 2013 Matches of the year...so far

It's July and that means that half of the year is over and there have been some pretty great matches so far.  Overall I think that wrestling has been better this year than last, seems to be less crap and better quality matches. Don't get me wrong there's still plenty of crap around. Zeb teaming up with Antonio comes to mind. Seriously, what the hell? But I'll save the bad stuff for another day. Time to get to the good stuff so here are the matches that I think qualify for match of the year.

CM Punk vs. The Undertaker (WM 29)
CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho (WWE Payback)
Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton (RAW 6/24/13)
Manik vs. Chris Sabin vs. Austin Ares (Impact 7/4/13)
Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim (TNA Slammiversary)

Wrestling Obscurity: GameShows

It doesn't happen too often, but every now and again you'll see wrestlers in movies, tv shows, commercials, and of course game shows. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Nothing wrong with a little fun and earning money for charity. Maybe it's me but it seems like they're out of place on game shows. It's just hard to see some really big guys/girls trying to answer silly questions. But I guess that is the fun of it. So I decided to look at some of the episodes of different game shows and see who is the best at answering questions.

WWE, TNA, ROH wrestling review

I meant to post about everything that is going on in prowrestling weeks ago, but never found the time. But now that I have some time. I've decided to share my opinions about what has happened in the past month or two. First, ROH. Not much to say, because I don't watch ROH that much. But I do think that stripping Briscoe of the title is not cool. But something tells me that it is building up to something bigger...I hope.

Next TNA. I think TNA is doing really well. They have had great matches and storylines that make since...I know. It's hard to believe. Granted they are not perfect, but as a product they are much better than what they were a couple of years ago. And last  Thursday night's main event on Impact was fantastic. More of that please!!!

Finally WWE. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?! You miss one episode of RAW and you're lost.
My head was spinning from all the heel/face turns in the past month. I think I've got it though. Let's see. Dolph Ziggler is face, not sure how that happened. Alberto Del Rio is heel...again. Mark Henery was face for about 10 mintues, then heel again. CM Punk and the SHIELD are face well depending on what city WWE is in at the time. Curtis Axiel is IC champion...? WHAT? Brock Lesnar is back and RVD is coming back to WWE. Did I miss anyting? Oh yeah, Zeb has teamed up with Antonio Cesaro. Ummmm I think Antonio was born in Switerzland, so how is he a "real American??" It's crazy, but it's also very entertaining.

WWE Payback review

I'm glad that I didn't make predictions for this PPV. I would have gotten have of it wrong. But I do enjoy it when a title(s) change hands at a PPV. I didn't think this would be much of a PPV, except for 1 match. But I was wrong. I was shaking my head and confused as all hell after the first 3 matches. Curtis Axiel and AJ Lee champions??? I didn't see that coming AT ALL. I was shocked and in awe. Axiel, IC champion...? Already?
How long has he been Curtis Axiel...a month? That is a hell of a push.
No surprise that the Shield won all their matches. And no surprise that John Cena won his match. I was surprised at how poorly constructed an ambulance can be. What was holding that thing together? Chewing gum?
One last thing, I gotta give love to the audience in Chicago. They are rowdy as hell. Back in the day it used to be Philadelphia that had the most passionate wrestling fans in the United States. Not sure, but I think that title belongs to Chicago now.

Worst match of the night: Kane vs. Dean Ambrose.
Best Match of the night: Jericho vs. Punk (nomination best match of year)
Overall I'd grade the PPV a solid B

Wrestling Obscurity: The Spirit Squad

Some may remember this group, and some may have forgotten them already. And it wasn't that long ago that The Spirit Squad was around in WWE. It's kind of hard to forget a faction made up of male cheerleaders. Yes you read that right male cheerleaders. And in my opinion the gimmick wasn't that bad. I mean they were annoying and over the top, but that was the point. It was a group easy to hate and people did. Especially when they alligned themselves with Vince McMahon. They had feuds with likes of Shawn Micheals and Triple HHH.  They even held the tag titles and defended them for a long time; over 200 days.
But they met there end when the squad was defeated by Ric Flair and DX, put in a crate, and shipped back to OVW. I'm not even kidding.
Side note one of the members of the Spirit Squad was named Nicky. Even though that's his real name(Nick) you know him better as Dolph Ziggler.

TNA Slammiversary 2013 results and review

Unfortunately I didn't have time to post any predictions prior to the PPV. Which was a good thing, because I would have gotten a lot of match outcomes wrong. For starters, I didn't think that Chris Sabin would have one the X-division championship. I'm glad he did, but I thought Kenny King would hold the belt a little longer.
Overall I thought this was a very good PPV. Most (>90%) of the matches were very good; some of them were great. Match of the year great? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see how the rest of the year goes. My only complaints about the  PPV would be that there was too much talking. I swear Hogan and Bully Ray talked way too much. WAY TOO MUCH. I know they were killing time, but you could do that with a video package of some kind. The other thing that annoyed me was Brooke Hogan coming to her husband's aid...kinda. First off, why would she do that? She can't still love the guy, right? Plus it played no part in the outcome of the match. So what was the point....? It made her look like an idoit and her dress didn't help matters. As my wife put it. "She looks like the great pumpkin." I thought she looked like a Florida orange, but great pumpkin works too.
The surprise match of the night was the last knockout standing match. That match was pretty damn good. I was pleasantly surprised and I think the crowd was too. Kudos to those two ladies, because they almost stole the show.
The worst match of the night would probably be the TV title match. Not much to say about the match, it was dull.
The best match of the night....that's a hard one. The last four matches were very good. But I have to pick one. So I'll go with the 4 way tag team title match. I didn't care for the outcome but the action, timing, and pace of the match was great and worked so well. That I have to go with that as the best match of the night.

Overall grade for TNA Slammiversary (A-) Good job TNA keep it up.

Wrestling Obscurity: Michael McGillicutty promo

Last Monday we got introduced to the new Paul Heyman guy. Curtis Axiel. Who will probably take credit for giving Triple HHH a concussion the next episode of RAW.  Now I don't have a problem with rebranding of a wrestler, it has worked for The Rock, Ryback etc. So maybe Curtis Axiel will get over as a heel we'll see. But before Curtis Axiel, there was Mike McGillicutty from NXT. You remember NXT? Of course you do. On NXT Mike and other competitors had to do a promo of why they would be the next NXT winner. Let's just say that Mike needed to work on his mic skills.  All I can say is that Curtis Axiel's mic skills have got to be better than Mike MCGillicutty.

Top 9 most synonymous foreign objects

Sometimes a foreign object is just a weapon that one uses to win a match or the object is part of the match i.e. Ladder match.  But there are some objects that become part of the character. An extension of the character if you will. I'm probably over thinking it, but if I said microphone or ring bell. You probably won't think of a wrestler, tag team or manager. But if I said bat, sledge hammer or nightstick.  Certain wrestlers may come to your head, instantly.
Like I said the object can be an extension of the character. Maybe you could you imagine that person(s) without that object? But, that's like imagining Thor without his hammer or Captain America without his shield. So I got to thinking, what are some of the most synonymous foreign objects in pro wrestling. Just 1 rule for the list. No ladders, tables or chairs.

1. Urn- The Undertaker (WWF/WWE)
2. Sledge Hammer- Triple H (WWF/WWE)
3. Baseball Bat- Sting (WCW/TNA)
4. Snake- Jake Roberts (WWF)
5 Singapore Cane- The Sandman(ECW)
6. Nightstick- The Big Boss Man (WWF)
7. Guitar-Jeff Jarrett/Honky Tonk Man (TNA/WWF)
8. Brass Knuckles- William Regal (WWE)
9. Cattle prod- The Mountie(WWF)

WWE Raw review (4/22/13)

WWE was in Great Britian last night on WWE RAW. Just a few comments on the show before I get to the Britian audience. The show was ok, nothing really big happened. But I didn't think it was going to. Big E Langston has a new song and it didn't sound bad. They are trying to push him a little.  I personally don't think it'll work. Big E reminds me of Ezikel Jackson. Big strong black guy, with not a lot of personality. I think if he becomes more of a techincal wrestler, he will do well, but we'll see.
What else happened? The Undertaker returned to RAW, that match was pretty good. Good to see Undertaker work more than 1 month out of the year. Maybe he'll stick around...maybe.
Now on to the audience. I thought we would relive the Raw after WM. And we kind of did, but this audience wasn't as hyped as the other audience in New Jersey. They did have the wave and some memorable chants i.e. "We are awesome" and of course they fandangoed. But not a very rowdy Britian crowd, however they were still entertaining.

4/8/13 Monday Nigth Raw Review

I don't usually do RAW reviews. But I felt like I had to talk about this past Monday night.  I think that was the most bizarre RAW EVER. Strange things happen in wrestling all the time, but the other night was off the scale. First we have Mark Henery wanting the WWE championship. That was random. Then the Miz losing the IC belt after holding on to it for 24 hours. Which I can't remember the last time that happened. A new World Heavyweight champion was crowned. And of course Ryback turning on Cena. Which I think that makes Ryback heel. Depends on who you ask, I guess. But the thing that made the night the most bizarre was the attending audience. Oh my God, what was up with that crowd?? You know it's crazy when the commentators don't know what to say. Crowds have been hyped before. But I think this took it to another level. According to crowd reactions, the "faces" were "heels" and "heels" were "faces." Especially when Dolph cashed in his MITB. The crowd erupted into a frenzy. I thought Dolph was the bad guy...? I guess not.
Also when was the last time a crowd randomly did the wave or chanted anything they wanted?? There were RVD, ECW, Randy Savage, JBL, Jerry, Michael Cole(really!) and of course We are awesome chants. That's just a few, there were plenty more. They also "sang", Fandango's music. I'm not sure why but like I said before RAW was off the scale and entertaining as hell.

Wrestlemania 29 review

First I want to say that "Living Colour" was 10 times better than P-Diddy. Unless he as going to be joined by Mase and/or Lil Kim. It was a waste of time. So much so that Tons of Funk and Rhode Scholars was cut.
As a whole, the PPV was not bad. There were some entertaining matches and all the matches were appropriate length. That is a big plus.  Maybe a few surprises i.e. Fandango defeating Jericho.
The best match of the night: CM Punk vs. The Undertaker. To me,  there really wasn't a worst match. None of them bored me nor did they go on too long. But I think the most disappointing match was HHH vs. Brock. It wasn't bad, but I think it could have been better than what it was.
Overall I would give Wrestlemania 29 a grade of C+

Wrestlemania 29 thoughts and ideas

I was looking at the card for this year's Wrestlemania. Looks ok, but I did notice something odd. There are a lot of "rookies" on the Wrestlemania card. Naomi, Cameron, Big E, and Fandango?? Are these individuals ready to step up their game to the level of Wrestlemania? Where's Kofi, R-Truth, or Cesaro? And the Intercontential championship, is going to be on the pre-show??? Ummm, no. No, just no. Why? Did Miz or Wade make someone mad or do they think that P-Diddy will draw in more people? If I wanted to see a P-Diddy concert I would go to a P-Diddy concert. Unless he is singing someone's entrance music, he is unnecessary.
Here are a few ideas for WM 29. Scrap P-Diddy, have the divas title on the pre-show, and put the Intercontinental title on the WM card. Small changes, but I think that would be a better wrestling show.

Wrestlemania 29 predictions

Is this year's WM going to predictable??? Maybe. They should throw us a curve ball. Maybe, Dolph will cash in money in the bank. I think that would be the first time it has been cashed in at WM. That would be cool. We'll see. Except for a few matches, WM feels like just another PPV. Nothing really big happens. And at $60-$70, something big SHOULD happen. Just to make me feel like I didn't waste my money. I'm getting off of the subject. Predictions, yea, that's what I'm here to talk about.

The shortest match will either be Tons of Funk vs. Rhode Scholars or Team Hell No vs. Ziggy/Big-E.
The best match will be Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H. But without any further stalling. Here are my picks for WM 29.

John Cena def. The Rock
Brock Lesnar def. HHH
Del Rio def. Swagger
Ziggler def. Del Rio
Tons of Funk and company def. Rhode Scholars and company
The Shield def. The Big Celtic Vipers
Wade Barrett def. The Miz
Team Hell No def. Ziggler/Big E
Fandango def. Jericho
Ryback def. Mark Henry
The Undertaker def. C.M. Punk

Top 9 wrestlers who should be WWE champion

Apparently I have not come to terms with Rock being WWE champion. I'm not mad..not anymore. I'm just disappointed in WWE. I know it's been 10 years since he was champion, but don't pretend that he has been in the "trenches" working his ass off to get to the top spot when he has only wrestled a handful of matches in the last 10 years. I know the Rock is a big draw and will bring in alot of money for WWE. But there are plenty of people who should be champion other than the Rock. So I have made a list of people I would rather see be WWE champion.

1. C.M. Punk
2. Daniel Bryan
3. The Miz
4. Dolph Ziggler
5. John Cena
6. Sheamus
7. Rey Mysterio
8. Ryback
9. Randy Orton

NTWA: Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero WM 20

Despite the unfortunate events in the summer of 2007. I decided to include this moment from WM 20 as an awesome moment in WM history. I am only going on what I felt at the moment event and not how I feel about it now. In 2004, at the end of WM 20. It was a great feeling to see both Eddie and Chris Benoit reach the top of the mountain, so to speak, at the same time. Both had gone thru so much in their lives and had overcame. And to have both be champions at the sametime on the biggest stage of the year. Showed that they both overcame and triumphed.

NTWA: Kenndey wins the MITB WM23

Money in the bank. I miss MITB at wrestlemania. If the rest of WM sucked, there would be at least 1 good MITB ladder match. I can't really pick 1 match or 1 moment from MITB. There are just too many.  But if I had to pick, I choose MITB from WM23. Because at the time I was a Ken Kenndey fan. I was sure that he would be WWE champion one day. So when he won MITB I was sure he would be champion. Of course that didn't happen. But that doesn't make the match any less awesome. Is it the best MITB ladder match?? I like to think so.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFmmHfFnaeg

NTWA: Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels WM 25

I didn't know how this match was going to be. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Why? I don't know. Both excel at WM but I just didn't think this match would be EPIC. Shows what I know, right. Possibly the greatest match in WM history.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2bk4D0cWls

NTWA: WM21 Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio

If you are a Rey or Eddie fan, this is a match you have to see. These 2 knew each other so well and you can really see the chemistry that they had in the ring. It's amazing. I think the match gets lost through all the other matches and these 2 have had numerous great matches in WCW and WWE.  But this was WM 21, the time of year that is supposed to bring everyone to a higher level and put on a match that people will talk about for years to come. This should be one of those matches. Watch it and compare it to other matches in WM it definitely belongs on the list of all time great matches cause it was awesome!!!

NTWA: Rey Mysterio becomes World Heavyweight Champion

Another awesome moment from Wrestlemania 22. Rey Mysterio becomes champion. The ultimate underdog, somehow becomes champion. I had my doubts that they would  put the title on Rey, but I am glad they did. Besides the actual moment, the match was very good. It should go down in history as one of the best matches in WWE.

NTWA: Butterbean vs. Gunn Wrestlemania 15

Years ago WWF had a boxing tournament called "Brawl for all". Yep, wrestlers boxing. Now at that time, boxing was still huge. With stars like Holyfield, Holmes, Mosely, Tyson, and Foreman.  I was a huge boxing fan at the time. So it didn't bother me, that some wrestlers would try to box and it was something different. Better than everyone standing around and talking too much. Anyway at the end of the tournament the "winner" would have a chance to face Butterbean at WM 15. That lucky guy was Bart Gunn, the "brother" of bad ass Billy Gunn. During the tournament Bart looked...ok.  But he was still an amateur boxer. An amateur boxer vs. a professional boxer....yea. Bart lasted maybe a minute and a half until he got knocked out. And when I say knocked out. I mean he got knocked the "F" OUT.

NTWA: Bret Hart vs. Shawn Micheals Ironman match

When was the last time you saw a 60 minute ironman match?? It's been awhile for me. I've seen a few matches go to there time limit (30-40 min) in the past couple of years. But those weren't ironman matches.
I had never heard of an ironman match before WM 12. But the rules are simple enough. The one with the most pinfalls/submissions at the end of the match wins. Like I said simple. Besides being one of, if not the first ironman match in WM history. Both men displayed their athletism on the biggest stage of them all. As a result we got an awesome match. And hopefully one day soon we will see a 60 min ironman match again.

Wrestling Obscurity: Johnny Curtis promos

Johnny Curtis has not faded into obscurity...yet. He does have a match against Jericho at WM this year. But now he goes by the name of Fandango. THAT's a topic for another day. But I do think that alot of people have forgotten Johnny's promos. Which were some of the worst, corniest, stupidiest promos ever. I think that was supposed to be the point. But the joke was lost on me. It could have been entertaining, but honestly I was confused. I did enjoy the irony, but irony isn't always funny or entertaining. Example, one promo involved dear Johnny picking 2 out of 3 condements. He chose kethcup and mayo. But not mustard, becuase mustard doesn't cut it. Get it? It's a play on words. hahaha.....what the hell? Another promo Johnny boy poored (spilled) milk over his head, but he didn't cry. A "Don't cry over spilled milk" gag. Once again not funny, just strange. Thankfully Johnny has moved on to...FAN-DAN-GO. Which is better....I think? But not by much.

Petey Williams is back

I haven't looked to see if Petey will stick around TNA or this is a temporary thing. But THANK GOD he is back. The X division needed him badly. Tonight's 3 way match should be a good one. I don't think it'll be great, just because it's on Impact and not a PPV. But it would be a pleasant surprise if I am wrong. I hope that I am. No matter what, welcome back Petey is back.

Terri's Wrestlemania Predictions

It's Wrestlemania week which besides Christmas is probably one of my favorite times of year!

Since who I WANT to win is not always who I predict will win, I will list both:

Rock v Cena
I am really still mad that he is champ. Seriously? You wrestle 3 times a year and they hand you the belt on a silver platter. Not ok.
Want-Cena Predict-Rock

Undertaker v  Punk
WWE took it way too far with the ashes bit on RAW. Just had to point that out!
Want-Taker Predict-Taker

HHH v Lesnar
Now I'm confused as to whether HHH's career as a wrestler is on the line or his career with WWE period is on the line because that would change my prediction.
Want-HHH
Predict if just in ring career-Lesnar
Predict is entire career-HHH

Del Rio v Swagger
How Swagger has a title shot at WM after being away forever I don't understand.
Want-Del Rio Predict-Del Rio

Shield v Orton, Sheamus and Show
Why they keep making the Shield be this unstoppable force I don't understand. They didn't let Nexus win this much and they had more members.
Want-Orton, Sheamus, Show Predict-Shield (Show will turn)

Barret v Miz
Why the Intercontinental belt is on the pre-show but Fandango gets to wrestle on Mania I don't get.
Want-Miz Predicet-Barret

Ryback v Henry
Want-Ryback Predict-Ryback

Team Hell No v Ziggler/Langston
Want-Hell No Predict-Zig/Lang (with AJ assist)

Jericho v Fandango
Want-Jericho Predict-Jericho

Tons of Funk v Rhodes Scholars
I predict this will be the shortest match.
Want-Tons of Funk Predict-Rhodes Scholars

NTWA: Triple HHH entrance Wrestlemania 22

One of the best entrances in WM history. Debut of a new song(at that time), a big throne, a barbaric outfit, complete with a crown. What more could you ask for? It was an entrance that was unique and specific to the character of Triple HHH aka The king of kings. And it was awesome!!!

NTWA: Wrestlemania X7

It's Wrestlemania week!! And because it is Wrestlemania week, I've decided to look back at some of the awesome moments of past Wrestlemanias. There are so many. Ummm I think I will start with Wrestlemania X7(17). When Edge jumped off the top of the ladder and speared Jeff Hardy who was suspended high above the ring. Yea, that was awesome!!!

TNA Lockdown 2013 Review (cont)

What happened last night? I was hoping against hope that the writing wasn't going in the direction that ALOT of people saw coming a mile away. I mean who was "surprised" last night? Hardly anybody.
Remember when Tazz joined Aces&8s? And he said he and the group served a "higher power." Who was he talking about? Bully Ray, DLo Brown and Devon???  Really?! Where's Jeff Jarrett when I need him?
Also their masks used to be SO important. They even said so after DOC was revealed to the world. But what happened? They all eventually became unmasked making the masks moot. Is it terrible writing? Oh yea....You know what? Actually it's not terrible or bad writing. No, It's lazy writing. There is a difference. Bad writing= Claire Lynch or Katie Vick {look it up}. Lazy writing is when you do something that has been done a million times before, a cliche if you will.
So what happens now? Brooke joins Aces&8s? Brooke divorces Bully? They were never married to begin with??  Shit, this is TNA, it's possible that all three will happen in the months to come....God help us all.

TNA Lockdown 2013 review

Where do I start....? I'm not sure. I'm very dissappointed in TNA right now. Maybe I should look at the PPV from just an entertainment point of view. Yea, that might help. OK. So we have a PPV called Lockdown. Now in the past, EVERY match was inside a steel cage. But for some reason, they decided to only make 3 matches cage matches. Not sure why. But I would like to find out.
On to the matches themselves, most were average. I would like to say that the X-division match was great, but there were too many mistakes made, but they did put on a good match. Match of the night was the 3 way for the tag team titles. Very good, they took their time and did very well. I'm not sure which was the worst match. You would think that Park vs. Ryan would be the worst, but I don't know. Wrestling wise, yea pretty bad, but entertainment wise. It was kind of good. So I'm conflicted between that match and the Heavyweight title match because I didn't think it was that good. And I had higher hopes for it than the Park vs. Ryan match. But now that I think about it why choose. They were both bad. So they both get worse match(es) of the night. The PPV as a whole I grade it a D+.

Vexed

You know I am often vexed by TNA....yea vexed is a good word. Tonight I am vexed and disappointed.

What if.....

Wrestlemania is nearly upon us and of course they are making matches for the big event. And it looks like, CM Punk is going to take on the Undertaker. I have no problem with this...but I think this match could be better. Another stipulation could've been added to the match. What if CM Punk was still WWE champion and he was going to face the Undertaker. Think about that for a second. The longest WWE title reign in decades vs. the undefeated streak at WM. I think that sounds pretty epic. And what if The Undertaker defeated CM Punk to become WWE champion at 21-0.  Then the next night on RAW the Undertaker retired as the WWE Champion. Sounds good to me, but that'll never happen. A man can dream can't he?

NTWA: CM Punk vs John Cena Raw 2/25/13

I feel that some rivialries go on too long, but a lot of the time they put on good/great matches. Case in point; Cena vs. Punk. I don't know how many times these two have had a match in the past 1-2years, but it feels like ALOT. But they have had some great matches. MITB in 2011, Night of Champions 2012 and RAW 2013. This happens a lot to me. But before the match starts my first thought is "not again" but as the match goes on I think "this is awesome." Espcially when they dusted off the pildriver. When's the last time you saw a piledriver (not tombstone) in WWE?!?! Great match, probably will get nominated for match of the year.

TNA Lockdown 2013 predictions

I do wish that the FULL card would be revealed on TV. But I guess in today's world. The internet reigns supreme and if you want the whole card you better look it up on line or download the app or google it. If you will. But I'll let's put that a side. It's time for predictions.

Robbie T def. Robbie E
Park def. Ryan
King def. Ion and York
Sky def. Kim
Aries/Roode def. Chavo/Hernandaz and Dainels/Kazarian
Angle def. Brisco
Aces&8's def. Team TNA
Hardy def Ray.

This is usually one of TNA's best PPVs so I hope that is the case tonight.

The Worst of 2012

I know it is almost March of 2013, but I had to post what alot of people believed was the worst storyline of 2012. I don't disagree with the choice at all. And the reason the storyline ended so quickly is funny as hell...to me anyway.

WWE Elimination Chamber

I know that it has been awhile since the last post. Been trying to figure out why the Elimination Chamber PPV is the way it is. My brain can't get around the idea that there is 1 chamber match and it's not for a title?!?! Why not have the World Heavyweight championship up for grabs in a chamber match? It seems like an odd card. I am glad that there are title matches, but I don't think any of them will change hands. Especially the WWE title. I mean the PPV is sponsored in part by GI Joe. And who is starring in that movie? Yep, The Rock...as if you didn't know.  There is NO way that the Rock will lose the match....unfortunately.
I think the PPV will be average at best, but I have been wrong before, something unsuspected might happen. One can only  hope.

Wrestling Obscurity: The Soaring Eagle

Last time on SmackDown, Jack Swagger came back from a 6month hiatus with a new look, new attitude, same lisp. Don't know if he is still the "All American American" or is he all about business and getting the job done. Time will tell. But not too long ago. The all American had a "partner." Well a mascot; in the form of the soaring eagle. Because what is more American than an eagle or a guy dressed up like an eagle. Who would accompany Mr. Swagger down to the ring, and would act like, well a mascot and that's pretty much it. I think the eagle helped Swagger win a couple of matches. He, the eagle, may have had a match or two...I hope that's not true but I think it is.
The eagle was harmless enough...I guess. It was stupid but harmless.  But a particular superstar(Edge) had enough of stupid things in the WWE and decided to take out the Soaring Eagle.

NTWA: Punk makes fun of John laurinaitis

You remeber Johnny Laurinaitis?? I should put him in Wrestling Obscruity along with Mike Adamle (ugh). Anyway, when Punk was face and "anti-estabilishment"  he would often bump heads with  big Johnny who was intrem RAW GM.  On one monday night, Mr. Punk decided to poke fun at Johnny's wrestling carrerr with a little promo. I personally thought the promo was awesome for many reasons but the main reason is because of the song they picked out for the piece. I recognized the song and I'm sure a few others did as well. It's from a certain 1986 movie's soundtrack.  I don't know who decided to use that particular song, but that was an awesome decision.

Top 9 entrance music

There are many aspects to a wrestling character. Mic skills, wrestling ability, signature moves, finishers, catch phrases, costumes, managers, overall persona. And of course, the entrance music or theme. Some have been iconic and some very forgetful.  But which are the best? And I don't mean the best as far as getting the audience excited before the match starts and everyone stands to their feet. No I mean the entrance that is so good, you want to listen to it on your iPod, iPad, or in your car!! And being a fan myself(as if you didn't know) I have downloaded a few entrance themes. So here's a list of what I consider to be the best entrance themes.

NTWA: Miz Wrestlemania 27 promo

Not long ago the Miz was one of the most hated wrestlers in WWE. Of course that was true when he was champion and headlined WM 27 against John Cena. Most remember that WM, it was the one the Rock hosted....and probably not the best WM in history, but not the worst either. But I'm not posting this to talk about WM or the Rock(ugh). I want to talk about one of the best promos in Wrestlemania. At the time, Miz threw his suceccs in the faces of all the doubters or haters if you will. Whenever he got a chance to,and seeing he had plenty of mic time, that was pretty much every week. So if a guy like the Miz is going to go into WM 27. What would be the best song to go with his promo...? How about "Hate me now" by Nas feat P. Diddy. Perfect!!! No other song would work, no other song COULD work. It is almost as if Nas wrote the song just for the Miz. I know that is not the case, but the song is a great reflection of Miz's career. Minus a few lyrics.

New WWE Champion

So....ummm yea that just happened. The Rock is the new WWE champ....I'm so upset right now. I had to write something in order to sleep tonight.  Obviously they are setting up for Rock/Cena II for WM. Which is wild because the first match wasn't that great. It was good, but not great. Even with the belt on the line, how much better could it be?
434 days over just like that. I'm not that big of a CM Punk fan, but still. He had to drop the belt to a guy who works 30days out of the past 10 years. While Punk, Cena, Ziggler etc. have worked days, weeks and months for the past 10 years to get to where they are now. Not saying that Rock didn't put his time in, but so did HHH, Mick Foley, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold. Do they get a title shot?? Of course not. But Rock gets to be champion...makes sense to me (sarcasm).
Not sure I wanna see either TNA or WWE right now. I need to sleep on it, hopefully I'll be less pissed off by the time RAW comes on. Then I'll turn on RAW and get pissed off all over again....oh it's a vicious cycle.  Where's my glass?!? The TALL one. Yep it's time for a drink.  Cheers.

Terri's Thoughts on the Rumble

The Royal Rumble is my favorite pay per view of the entire year. Yes, even moreso than Wrestlemania. I love the Mania fanfare but the Rumble has a certain mystique that I just love. It's always cool to see who returns or comes out of retirement or whatever. I mean obviously thats not gonna be your Rumble winner per se but it is exciting. Example? When Diesel returned. Yes, I knew there was no way he was gonna when it but it was good to see him (especially face) AND the pop from the crowd was A-MA-ZING!

Of course they have the usual 6 throw away spots of people who even in a shocker wouldn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning but they are always there anyway. Example? Any diva, anyone over 40 and any super low midcard like say Yoshi. Oh and there is bound to be someone from the commentators desk to rise up around number 16 or so.

WWE writing hasn't been the best lately. I feel like they hired some discarded TNA writers or something. (But yes I watch both companies.) But it would be super awesome if they pulled an Austin Aries, meaning pushing a mid-card guy to the top in an unexpected victory. My vote would be Kofi. LOVE HIM!!

Now for the CM Punk v Rock match....................total shenanigans. I dislike both of them (well right now....I've liked them both in the past but I dislike them both now for differing reasons) but I'd be disappointed if Punk dropped a belt he's had literally over 400 days to a person who literally has come to work for less than 30 days. I still don't even think it makes sense for the Rock to even have a title match. Headlining last Wrestlemania was annoying enough. I think it's a slap in the face to the ones who travel 300 days a year city to city entertaining the fans and putting their bodies on the line. I wish I could hear what the guys in the back REALLY felt about that. I bet it would be just as I feel.

One more thing about the Rock.........................you can truly tell who the true fans of the business are when this topic comes up. Yes, I was a big Rock fan in the Attitude Era as well but come on people. If your primary reason for wanting the Rock to main event a pay-per-view is because you think he is sexy..........you need a cold shower and a mate, not to be commenting on wrestling. SMH.

My prediction to win the Rumble match is John Cena. He had a crappy 2012 so he is due for something big. Close but no cigar will probably be Randy Orton. Kofi is sure to make a good showing with a few high flying stunts which I am looking forward to.

One last thing, I HATE the Shield angle. Between them and Aces and Eights in TNA they give factions a bad name. How is jumping anyone a justice when you are about injustice? #makesnosense. If they interfere in the Rumble match, I'll be throwing my fuzzy sock at the screen.

Thanks for reading! Happy Rumble Day!
Terri

WWE Royal Rumble Predictions

It's prediction time for this year's Royal Rumble PPV. Not a bad card, hopefully a title will change hands...maybe tag team...just throwing that out there. Like last year I will give my top 5 of who I think will win the Royal Rumble. I honestly don't have a clue who will win. It would be funny if Rock loses to Punk but enters the Rumble and wins lol. That could never happen...right?? I tell you this if that did happen. The wife is liable to break the TV or the couch; she's not a fan of the Rock...at all!!
Anyway, time for my predictions:

Cesaro def. The Miz

Team Hell No def. Rhode Scholars

Alberto del Rio def Big Show  (not sure how, but that's my pick)

CM Punk def. The Rock (again no idea how)

Royal Rumble winner
1) Randy Orton
2) John Cena
3) The Miz
4) Daniel Bryan
5) Dolph Ziggler (I seriously ran out of options and couldn't think of anyone else)

Could The Rock win the WWE Championship

The Royal Rumble is upon us once again. This PPV could set the tone for 2013. Imagine if you will. The Rock winning the WWE Championship....then what?!?! Is he going to come back...? Take the belt with him to all the movie premieres he has in this year!?!?! That would give WWE more publicity. I guess all that is possible, but I don't think it will happen. Of course stranger things have happened in the WWE. Anyone remember RAW's New Year's Eve episode or Christmas eve episode? I think I've made my point.

Wrestling Obscuirty: Rock bottom to Mick Foley

On Raw Mick Foley and the Rock exchanged words. Kind words of course, but the Rock said that no one remembers when he rock bottomed Mick Foley last year. I disagree. I remember. It was during "This is your life John Cena" hosted by Mick Foley.  A segment that wasn't all that good, but the Rock "fixed" that.

TNA match of the year (2012)

It was kind of hard for me to pick out one match that was great or epic. There have been several good matches in 2012, but few great matches. My pick for the best match in 2012 would be Austin Ares vs. Bobby Rhode for the heavyweight championship at Destination X. I haven't watched it as many times as Taker vs. HHH, but I do think it was a better wrestling match, from a pure wrestling stand point. Ares/Rhode didn't need a cage or a cell. They just went out and put on a great wrestling match.

NTWA: C. Daniesl dives onto Ultimate X

I don't know what was going through C. Daniels mind when he got on top of the scaffold, but I would be scared out of my mind. Who come's up with the idea to jump off of a scaffold and onto ropes suspend in mid-air? Crazy sick and also awesome.

TNA ideas for 2013

I have probably said these ideas before, so bear with me. But apparently they need to be repeated cause they, TNA, doesn't seem to be doing it. But what they need to do is focus on the X-division.  Bring in more and showcase young talent and use the young talent you have. For instance, it wouldn't be a bad idea if Bischoff and Briscoe formed a tag team, at least on paper. Maybe they can bring in talent from other countries. Also, make ALL your titles mean something by having torunaments, not just the BFG series.  .
Aces & eights....I don't know what they are going to do there. I personally think they dropped the ball, when Anderson wasn't the leader. It kind of makes sense that he isn't but who else do you have? Jarrett...maybe. Like I said I don't know what they can do with this faction. Hopefully they know what they are doing....hopefully.

1st RAW of 2013

I was going to post this last night, but I decided to sleep on and digest what I saw last night. And I'm still confused of what CM Punk's character is supposed to be. Is he a villian or an anti-hero? It was kind of strange to hear him talk. On one hand he's telling the "truth" about WWE(anti-establishment), but on the other hand he's bad mouthing the audience (anti-social). So I couldn't tell who he was angry at; the organization or the people. Not sure you can be against both. That would make you champion of the....ummm....One nation under Punk? Or One Punk Nation...? I'm confused. I'll listen again and maybe I'll get it the second time. I'm a bit slow so bear with me.

Now on to the Rock; I'm not really a fan of the Rock anymore. Just because he gets a title shot at the RR. Why does he get a title shot...? Because he beat John Cena? If that's the case, there should be a LONG line of 1# contenders. Is the Rock entertaining? Of course, no doubt. But I don't think he deserves a title shot. He didn't win RR or MITB so does he really deserve a title shot? And does anyone think he'll win? If he won, would he stick around? I don't know. I don't think so, but we'll see what happens.

WWE ideas for 2013

Here we are in a new year. Some things are bound to change as the new year goes on. There are plenty things I would like to see before 2014 gets here. From WWE, I would like them to do more, much more with the divas. By that I mean more or better matches. It's not fair that divas get more air time not wrestling i.e. AJ, than wrestling. WWE needs to keep the tag team division, but but they need to pass the title around. That would make it more intresting, I think. Next; can we do something with the SHIELD, like get rid of them...please. Now that I think about it, how about no more factions/stables for 2013.
On Smackdown, there needs to be less time devoted to RAW. Just the RAW rebound and a few recaps but that's it. RAW shouldn't be so big that it's on Monday AND Friday.  Also make Teddy Long RAW GM he'd be much better than Vickie...hola.

NTWA: Best WWE match of 2012

I recovered from last night's RAW. Thank God for my friend Jack Daniels. Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year's. But it's time to move on to the best and maybe the worst of 2012. First, the best WWE match of the year.  I don't think I would surprise anyone for the best WWE match of 2012. My pick was HHH vs. Undertaker at WM. I think Ive seen that match 6 times. It definitely stole the show. Much better than Cena vs. Rock.
